UH has partnered with Bright Horizons to provide employees with alternative child and elder care through the Back-Up Care Advantage Program. The program provides 24-hour access to a national network of quality, licensed child care centers and trained, experienced in-home care providers. This includes elder care for parents who live in or out of state.
If you are a regular status UH employee scheduled to work 16 or more hours a week, you are eligible for up to 10 visits each calendar year.
The program offers back-up care for:
- Minor illnesses of a child or disabled or older adult
- Day care center/school closings
- Regular caregiver sick days or vacation days
- Times you are in between child or adult/elder care arrangements
- Business travel
- Appointments of stay-at-home spouses
- Respite care for disabled or older adults
You have a minimal copayment for:
- Center-based care: $15 a child (up to $25 for a family) per visit
- In-home care: $6 per hour, regardless of the number of children, and there’s no additional cost for evenings or weekends; medical care services are available for an additional charge
Before you can use back-up care, you must register.
