The Hartford’s Ability Assist program helps employees and their families deal with the stress and challenges a disabling illness or injury may present. The program is offered by ComPsych and provides support for:
- Emotional and work-life concerns, such as stress, family or marital conflicts, depression, effective parenting, and child and elder care
- Legal issues, including debt, guardianship and power of attorney
- Financial planning to help with managing budgets, debt, savings and tax filing responsibilities
The program is available to eligible employees who are enrolled in long-term disability (LTD) coverage. You and your spouse and dependents can use Ability Assist for up to two years after the initial approval of your LTD claim.
You can call the toll-free line to speak with a counselor for an initial assessment, consultation and references to resources and in-person providers as needed.
- You and your family have up to five face-to-face confidential sessions (or equivalent professional time) per year with a counselor, financial planner and/or legal advisor or combination of the three.
- Use GuidanceResources Online to locate information, resources, referrals and answers to everyday questions. You will need to enter UH’s ID (HLF902), create your own username and password and enter “alibi” for the company name at the bottom of the page.
All services are completely confidential. The program will not provide UH personal information about individuals who use the service, unless you provide written consent or it is required by law.
