Knowing that you have coverage in case you or a family member needs long-term care can reduce emotional and financial stress in case of the unexpected. Types of services covered include assistance with daily living activities, such as eating, bathing and dressing.

Eligibility

You can enroll if you are a regular status active employee working 17.5 hours per week. These individuals are also eligible:

  • Retirees
  • Spouses and same-sex domestic partners
  • Parents or in-laws
  • Grandparents or grandparents-in-law
  • Your adult children and their spouses
  • Your siblings and their spouses
Coverage Options
Generally, you choose coverage options based on:
  • Types of services that will be covered
  • Daily benefit amount – maximum amount of daily coverage for care

The program offers five coverage options and an automatic benefit increase option (inflation protection).

Evidence of Insurability

You will have to provide evidence of insurability if enrolling more than 30 days after you become eligible. Family members who enroll will be required to provide proof of good health.
