To help make health care more affordable for retirees, UH offers the Retiree Medical Access Program.
The program covers:
- You, if you:
- Are regular status employee working 16 hours/week or more
- Are age 55 to 64
- Have three or more years of UH service
- Your spouse/same-sex domestic partner
If UH employee dies while employed, the program covers your spouse/same-sex domestic partner if under 65 and covered in the UH active plan – and eligible dependent children covered in the UH active plan up to age 19, or 25 if full-time student. |
The program covers:
- You, if you retire or end UH employment and you:
- Are a regular benefits-eligible employee at termination
- Had three or more years of UH service
- Your spouse at age 65 if covered on your active UH medical plan

- National provider network through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield
- Flexibility to use Health Savings Account (HSA) funds to pay retiree medical expenses, including deductibles, copayments and coinsurance

- Individualized education assistance and counseling about plan options, coverage, costs
- Help with enrolling in Medicare Parts A & B

You will receive an invitation packet to enroll close to your 65th birthday. |
